OK folks, for all you folks who haven't heard about it yet.

Mark your calendars.

(That'll be the day I get married.   )

What I am about to describe happened a couple weeks ago.  As I think back on it, I can't believe I did it.  Is this what happens when a person gets engaged ?

I enjoy a good meal.  Well, if it's fast food, maybe I won't enjoy it as much, but I'm sure it's good.  Far from healthy, but good.  I'd appreciate that meal even more if it's cheap (or at least a good price / weight ratio - makes buffets an instant winner).  With that combination, I very rarely buy a "small" item from a fast food place.  The price is always better for medium or large.

Well, at the time, I was with Connie, and we were in between meals.  She and I were hungry.  We didn't want to eat a full meal, because we were going to have dinner at my place.  So we went to McDonald's and she said we should get a happy meal!   What ?  That's for kids.  Besides you don't get very much food.  I thought about it some more, and realized, I don't remember having a happy meal in a very LONG time.

Ugh.  We ended up with 2 happy meals. I can't believe I had a happy meal.  That seems so "childish."  I can't believe it.  Well, at least the 2 shrek figurines were cute.

Since i haven't done any updates for a long time, I figured that this is as good a time as any to share a little.  Well, maybe share a lot.

In His time, God answers prayers.   Even ones that I've been praying about over and over again for a very, very long time.  I thank the many people who have been praying for me.  Now, instead of praying for me, you can pray for us.

I'm now engaged to marry Connie.

And if you're really interested in the proposal, all I'm gonna say is where  -- here, on a hill overlooking the beach off of the Long Island sound.  It was either this or on top of the Empire State Building at night, but the line was too long.  Well, all in his time.

Last week I saw the Nativity Story in the theaters, and I think it was the best Christian movie I've ever seen!  It pales every sunday school nativity scene re-enactment.  The movie was overly melodramatic, which I blame theatrical license for, but it was pointed out to me that every sunday school nativity scene has their own inaccuracies!

I found out that the wise men never visited Jesus when he was in the manger!   Only the shepherds visited baby Jesus in the manger.  The nativity scene was always portrayed with the wise men visiting baby Jesus in the manger.  The wise men visited the child Jesus when he was in a "house", several weeks, even months later.  Wow, what a revelation!

All my memories of the sunday school nativity scene have been crushed.

Hi all, I've been awfully quiet these past 4 months.  Been kind of busy.  ECBC came and went, as I can see in my last posting.  Still bummed about the Yankees being knocked out of the playoffs.  There was a glimmer of hope that the Mets might make it, so that at least New York will be in the World Series, but not even that.  *sigh*

As I ponder my role as a deacon in GFC, I think back on the time that my first term as deacon neared completion (summer 2005).  Do I want to do another 3 years as deacon?   Is my job done?  Did I serve the church well, and pass along the responsibilities to another ?   I felt my duty wasn't done yet.  There were some things that I'd like to see completed at GFC for the present and for the future.  Thus, my nomination and re-election for another 3 years.

Now, what has my over-developed sense of duty gotten me into?

For many of you GFC people, you've heard what's going on.  Most of you "below 40" have been quiet about the matter.  And if you think that this doesn't involve you, and yet you still attend GFC in some capacity, perhaps you may want to rethink it.  I am in a very awkward position of being caught in the middle with a decision (with along with the other members of the deacon board) that will hurt one or more people.  It saddens me to recognize that Satan is laughing at this whole situation.  *sigh*  There is no satisfactory option that I can see.

I am unsure of the purpose of this entry, other than to perhaps solicit what your thoughts are.  Feel free to comment, or if you wish privacy, email me    archmage00@gmail.com

If there's anytime to pray for your leaders, it's now.
